The next step is to use them for deeper investigation and making your recurring work easier to repeat, explain, and act on. Use more than one report to investigate the same issue** ------------------------------------------------------------- You do not always get the full answer from one report. Different reports show different angles of the same shipping activity, so a question that begins at the shipment level may eventually require package-level or charge-level detail. - **Shipment Detail** - Use this to understand the shipment as a whole, including service, origin, destination, references, weight, piece count, and shipment-level cost. It is useful for identifying which shipments deserve a closer look. - **Package Detail** - Use this when the question moves down to an individual package or tracking number. It adds package-level context such as actual weight, billed weight, dimensions, zone, service, and package cost. - **Charge Detail** - Use this when you need to see exactly what made up the cost. It breaks the shipment into individual transportation and accessorial charges, including the original charge, discount, and net charge. For example, Shipment Detail may show an unusually expensive shipment. Package Detail can help determine whether one package stands out by weight or dimensions, while Charge Detail report can show which individual charges ultimately contributed to the cost. The important part is knowing when to move from one level to the next instead of asking one report to answer every question. These reports do not structure the data the same way. A row may represent a shipment, package, or individual charge, and the reports may use different date logic. So the differences in row counts or totals do not automatically mean something is wrong. ### **2. A report for a past period can still change** Reports reflect the carrier invoice data Lojistic has received and processed when you generate them. If additional invoices, adjustments, or charges arrive later, rerunning the same ship-date period may produce a different result. Hence, a historical number may no longer match an earlier file when you revisit an older period during reconciliation. This is especially relevant for **Package Detail and Shipment Detail**, which are based on ship date. A shipment belonging to an earlier shipping period changes what you see when that period is pulled again. ### **3. Use Report History when you need to retrace an analysis** Report History shows how an earlier report was generated, including its run date, date range, currency, filters, and status. This is important to remember when the information is being used in another workflow, such as when you are revisiting a reconciliation from last quarter or when someone reruns the report and gets a different result. Before rebuilding the analysis, look at the original report in Report History. Confirm the period and filters that were used and, if necessary, download the original file again. This gives you a much better starting point and makes comparisons more meaningful. ### 4. Schedule reports around work that already happens repeatedly If your team reconciles the same dataset every month, reviews the same type of shipping activity each week, or needs the same report as part of a quarterly process, scheduling saves you from recreating it every time. Reports can be delivered weekly, monthly, or quarterly using the criteria established for that recurring workflow. Decide which report supports the task, which filters define the right population, how often the team needs the data, and what happens when the report arrives. Once that is clear, scheduling simply keeps the process moving. ### **Remember: The report is only part of the answer** Getting more from Reporting does not necessarily mean pulling more reports. Often, it means knowing when to move between different levels of detail, understanding why an older dataset may change, and making it easier to retrace or repeat the analyses your team already relies on. That way, when a shipping number gets questioned, you are not starting from scratch.
