FedEx announced a limited reinstatement of its Money Back Guarantee effective April 6, 2021.
This comes days after UPS’s limited delivery guarantee reinstatement that went into effect April 5, 2021.
The timing isn’t the only similarity.
FedEx’s ‘reinstatement’ only applies to select Domestic and International Express services.
The details are as follows:
Domestic:
FedEx First Overnight
FedEx Priority Overnight*
FedEx Standard Overnight
International:
FedEx International First
FedEx International Priority
FedEx International Priority Freight
*FedEx Express Priority guarantees are extended by 90 minutes. Packages now have until noon (vs 10:30 a.m.) for guaranteed delivery. The guarantees for all other shipments listed above are being reinstated with their normal commitment times.
The FedEx Money Back Guarantee remains suspended for all other FedEx services.
Is The Service Guarantee A Return To “Normal?”
In a word: no.
This limited version of service guarantees resembles the typical seasonal guarantee-restrictions FedEx imposes during the holiday season more than the pre-March 2020 service guarantees most FedEx shippers have known and relied on.
How Can Shippers Prepare For The Return Of Service Guarantees?
Nobody knows for sure what FedEx and UPS service guarantees will look like. Afterall, there’s no guarantee (pun intended) that service guarantees will ever fully return to their pre-March 2020 versions. The return of service guarantees, despite it being limited, is a positive, following consecutive record-breaking quarters of profitability for the carriers.
Shippers can prepare for (hopefully) better days ahead by auditing FedEx (and UPS) invoices with Lojistic. If there’s an error on your invoice, or a service failure, Lojistic will catch it. We’ll also help you recover the refunds that you’re owed.
How Can I Audit My FedEx/UPS Invoices?
Shippers should be taking advantage of the service guarantees by collecting refunds from FedEx/UPS when they don’t deliver on their promise. And the most effective way to ensure nothing slips through the cracks is by using an invoice auditing service.
Audit is just one free features of the Lojistic platform. Within your account, you can download a list of potential credits, and manage the recovery process yourself. Or, if you prefer, Lojistic will gladly administer and manage the refund recovery process on your behalf.
